Abstract
An empirical study on the mobility effects of telework is presented. Telework as a flexibilization of work (in time and space) can have important effects on daily mobility. Some initial results are given, showing that the overall number of trips is not increasing. Also, the experienced flexibility of teleworkers is measured, but conclusions about changes have not been drawn yet. Until now, telework (with a limited frequency) seems to have rather limited consequences for mobility, but another implementation of telework can have very different effects. A fundamental shift in the organization of work, enabled by telematics, could easily result in a hyper-mobility, in a very dynamic society. (A)
