Abstract

There has been a growing recognition of the need to support the elderly and enable people to participate in society. It is therefore necessary to reduce the physical and mental stress on such people while walking by not only improving sidewalks but also providing them with information to make walking safer and easier. As part of efforts to build an ITS system which provides such services to pedestrians, this report summarises the current status of pedestrians' needs and equipment for providing information to pedestrians, as well as the conditions and system outline of the Pedestrian ITS.
