Abstract

The paper introduces the further research on the probe car system in Beijing City of China based on the research output on buses last year. More than 2000 taxis running on roads send GPS data in real time to the data baseof the taxi dispatching center, which transmits the data to the data basein the traffic information center via the internet. In the traffic information center, the probe information system matches the location of taxis on the digital map, calculates the average running speed and travel time onroad links, and distributes the traffic information to users every five minutes through Internet and FM radio.
