This report contains the findings and results of a study on the research needs into the relationship between transportation investment and economic development. The study findings are based on a review of current literature and research on the subject and on the results of a 2-day expert panel workshop that included a cross section of stakeholders from the public and private sectors, academia, and other transportation interest groups. The participants identified and discussed information requirements, the need for improved analytic tools, and decision-making support mechanisms that can improve the accuracy and understanding of the interrelationships between economic development and transportation investments.
