Abstract

The driver's task is to monitor multiple sources of information which vary in number and in objective probability of presenting signals for action. On detecting a signal be sets in train one or more response sequences from his repertoire of overlearned control skills. A number of classical psychological methodologies which are used in research on perception and decision-making in driving are reviewed.
