Abstract

The behaviour of tunnels and tunnel lining in soft ground is studied. The scope and objectives of the study are discussed. Results of model tests on a lined and an unlined tunnel in overconsolidated clay are presented and discussed in some detail. It also considers methods of estimating the stability of lined and unlined tunnels.
