Reserved bus-lane system-a case study of Delhi.

Abstract

As a traffic management measure, exclusive bus-lane system was introduced in Delhi on experimental basis on a few selected arterials. The Central Road Research Institute evaluated the functioning of it by means of opinion survey of road users, traffic flow during different hours of the day by lane, speeds violations, etc. Because the provision of the reserved bus-lane caused disbenefit which lead to frequently violating, the experimental system was discontinued.
