Abstract

This paper discusses some variations on the format of pubic meetings to improve their effectiveness as a forum of information exchange. Presentation of information to residents and the format of questionnaire surveys are two critical issues that significantly affect the residents' understanding of the plan and attitude towards the process and consequently their response. The level of interaction between residents and elected resident representatives who may be participating in the development of the traffic management plan is also of importance. Some recent experience with these matters are discussed in this paper.
