Abstract

This paper describes the development of a non-compensatory model of residential choice based on the Elimination-by-Aspects model. A calibration method is outlined and several such EBA models are built. A number of tests are performed to check the internal consistency of the model. These same tests are then performed on compensatory logit models built using the same data and the results obtained from the two types of models are compared. Finally, the factors influencing the elasticities obtained from an EBA model are investigated.
