Abstract

Today the Metro system in Stockholm consists of three lines, the Green, the Red and the Blue line, with a combined total of 108 km of double tracksand 100 stations. As the planning of the new signaling system for the Redline has progressed, the general interest in fully automated systems, unattended train operation (UTO) has increased. The new signaling system willbe able to handle 36 trains per hour. In a fully automated system withoutdrivers, the existing fleet will be able to run more frequent but shorter, trains, especially during off peak hours.
