Abstract

The Department of Transportation (DOT) employee of today needs to have a much larger skill set than the DOT employee of 20 years ago. More work needs to be done by an ever shrinking pool of qualified applicants. Examples of programs that US State DOTs are using to attract and keep employees with the skills needed to operate a DOT in the 21st century are outlined. Forthe covering abstract see ITRD E139491.
