Abstract

A comprehensive assessment is presented of the injury reducing potential of various automobile occupant safety restraint systems, including both existing and proposed systems, some of which require occupant participation (active system), some of which do not (passive systems), and some systems with both active and passive elements. Elements considered were: lap belts, shoulder harness, air bags, and impact resistant panels. See also B 2558 and B 2659
