Abstract

A program, Alcohol Safety Action Project, (ASAP), was de-veloped to test the capability of traditional communityinstitutions to control the drinking driving. Two novelfeatures veere applied which are discussed. There was asignificant reduction in nighttime fatal crashes. This ismost probably a result of the increased general deterrenceto dronk driving. The positive results are supported bythe corresponding reductions in roadside survey results.
