Measurements made by 50 GPS-based floating cars have been used to give input to the evaluation of the Stockholm trial with congestion charging, especially regarding changes in travel time and congestion. This method has produced approximately 12 million measuring points, from which 20,000 journey times have been tracked along 52 selected routes. On inner approach roads and city roads, queuing time has in average been reduced by half. The effect varies extensively between different roads, but most divergent results seem to be related to the exemptions from congestion fee on some major arterials.
