Results of handling, stability, and braking tests of the minicars RSV.

Abstract

THE CAR USED IN THE TESTS DESCRIBED WAS THE MINICARS RSV M 5-10. THE TEST EQUIPMENT WAS INSTALLED BY DAIMLER-BENZ, MANOEUVRES REQUIRING LARGE SURFACE AREAS WERE CARRIED OUT ON THE VW TEST TRACK IN EHRA-LESSIEN, THE OTHER TESTS WERE PERFORMED AT DAIMLER-BENZ IN STUTTGART. THE CRITERIA TESTED WERE: BRAKING IN A STRAIGHT LINE, BRAKING IN A TURN, BRAKE PEDAL FORCE AS A FUNCTION OF DECELERATION, EFFECTIVENESS OF THE PARKING BRAKE, STEADY-STATE YAW RESPONSE, TRANSIENT YAW-RESPONSE, STEERING RETURNABILITY, MAXIMUM LATERAL ACCELERATION, CONTROL AT BREAKAWAY, CROSSWIND SENSITIVITY, STEERING CONTROL SENSITIVITY, PAVEMENT IRREGULARITY SENSITIVITY, SLALOM COURSE, ACCELERATION, TURNING CIRCLE DIAMETER, MAXIMUM SPEED DRAG COEFFICIENT, KINEMATIC CHANGES IN TOE-IN AND CAMBER, AND SUSPENSION. ACCORDING TO THE RESULTS OF THE TESTS CARRIED OUT AS PRESCRIBED BY THE RSV SPECIFICATIONS, THE MINICAR RSV MET THE REQUIREMENTS IN GENERAL. IN 3 CASES, SOME OF THE LIMIT VALUES WERE NOT MET, AND THE VEHICLE BARELY MET THE REQUIRED PERFORMANCE IN SOME OF THE TESTS. DETAILS OF THE RESULTS ARE GIVEN.
