Abstract

This short paper presents an analysis of drivers undertaking the selection procedure for motor vehicle drivers in the Swiss Army. The candidates' performance is correlated to their previous violations of Swiss traffic laws. The conclusions drawn were that those drivers with former violations are deeply interested in cars and driving, have fewer alternative occupations, and perform worse on complex tasks and in self-assessment. The author suggests that punishments do not offer the chance to improve performance or ability to learn to make accurate estimations. For the covering abstract see ITRD E113725 (C 22328 CD-ROM).
