Abstract
The SWOV has been asked to make a study of the effectiveness of the rear light of a bicycle and the use of retroflective materials for mopeds and bicycles. More specifically the use of retroflective tyres, retroflective spokes and a retroflective insurance plate. After an introduction and a theoretical review on the benefit of visual aids, the main results of the study are presented. The installation of retroflective equipment on the rear or on the side of the bicycle or moped is discussed.
