Abstract

The driver's primary task includes a combination of directional control with steering and speed control with the accelerator pedal. This paper reviews basic control theory models for these functions. Analytical and block diagram representations of the models are included, as well as example numerical results for typical drivers from recent driving simulator studies. Example applications of the models are shown. (Author/publisher)
