Abstract

Improvements in the occupant protection capability of seat belt systems can be made, mainly by selection of webbing and use of load limiters in the belt layout. Further improvements, including an increase in the impact speed at which such systems are effective, can be made, including the use, where appropriate, of crash activated belt tensioning devices.
