Abstract

This review examines current knowledge and practice in respect of heavy vehicle driver testing. Particular attention is paid to the potential of testing programs as casualty accident countermeasures, given the disproportionate involvement of heavy vehicles in serious casualty/ fatality crashes. The skills involved in heavy vehicle operation are sufficiently different and more complex than those required for car driving.
