Abstract

This paper describes a number of studies carried out by the Department of Transport to investigate accidents in various types of rural single carriageway, single/dual interface, dual carriageway and motorway, for various design assessment and monitoring purposes. Additionally the advantage of installing safety fences on dual carriageway central reserves was assessed. Because of its complexity and length it has been run in two parts.
