Abstract

Over the last ten years, there has been an increasing interest in the development of fatigue detection devices, with some motor vehicle manufacturers including devices in their vehicles that are marketed as fatigue warning systems (e.g., Citroen). The problem of fatigue detection is being attacked using a range of different approaches. This paper is a brief review of the literature on fatigue detection devices including a discussion of the likely effectiveness of these devices for managing driver fatigue. (Author/publisher)
