Abstract

It is considered that good occupant protection can be obtained in modern Volvo vehicles, provided the installed 3-point seat belt system is used. To quantify this judgement the Volvo accident figures are put into an international perspective and an overview is given of the Volvo research efforts. Patterns of injuries received by belted occupants under specific crash conditions are discussed.
