Abstract

The review deals with frequency and severity of night accidents. Environmental as well as human factors likely to influence any differences between night and day accidents are discussed. Cost benefit studies suggest that the cost of lighting may be recouped from savings in accident costs. The relationship between street lighting and vehicle are considered.
