Abstract

The objective of this paper is to introduce new real time parking technology which has recently been introduced in Sydney and to outline the associated work in measuring the traffic benefits achieved by such technology. This paper is divided into two parts. The first part explains how the parking technology works and what some of the actual and potential benefits are or might be for the car park users, owners, managers, designers, developers and government agencies. The second part outlines the process undertaken and outcomes of the traffic evaluation study which measured some of the more finite benefits.
