Abstract

The study attempts to assess existing and potential methods for the improvement of drivers safety motivation. What is presently known concerning the effectiveness of deterrence measures and punishment has been detailed with regard to road safety. The existing point demerit system in Ontario is evaluated. Potential non-punitive methods for increasing drivers concern for road safety through incentives and rewards have been explored.
