Abstract

Safety and reliability are requisites for a modern emergency service. Ducati Systems of Italy has developed a roadside assistance system based on wireless GSM technology, SOS posts and a reply centre. The posts include a series of buttons specific to the emergency aid required, a voice system, and solar panels. The posts are connected to the GSM channel. The reply centre consists of a computer with four GSM modems, a connected voice system, a printer, monitors and systems management software. The SOS post is usually in sleep mode. It is activated by pressing a button, or by the diagnostics cycle or operator. The diagnostics system and operational functions are described. For the covering abstract see ITRD E115762.
