Abstract
All traffic from the left has to give way to all traffic from the right at intersections of the same order. This is a general right of way regulation that is in force in (almost) all European countries. In the Netherlands however, there is a different rule: at intersections of the same order cyclists have to give way to motorized traffic from the left. An extensive research programme was set up in order to come to an optimal estimation of the consequences of a change in the rules for giving way.
