Increasing traffic requires much from the road user. In particular, both perception and reaction ability have become important factors. It is the government's task to draw up rules regarding traffic so as to decrease dangerous factors. Since 1927 driving under the influence of alcohol has been punishable by law. Since 1959 driving under the influence of drugs which can influence driving ability has been punishable. The effect of alcohol on the human body is studied just as is the role of alcohol in society. The detection of driving while intoxicated is discussed. Driving while influenced must be the concern of the law and the police because a driver who has been drinking alcohol should not be on the road. By means of good publicity he must be made aware of what he is doing.
