An inventory is made of all kind of activities in the province of Gelderland to prevent driving under the influence of alcohol. Described are the the campaigns on education at schools, disco busses, the simulation of alcohol-free receptions, information in sport centres, information on confiscation of the driving licence, to explain the responsibility of the owners of restaurants and bars, the deal between party participants not to drink when driving home, penalty courses for convicted drivers, alcohol and traffic in theory, the information to special targets as adolescents and young moped drivers, actions by the police, and the role of the local authority.It is concluded that for all these campaigns the public participation is needed, otherwise the campaigns are not likely to succeed.
