Abstract

The recreational navigation is increasing rapidly in the surroundings of Sneek municipality. Road traffic and transport is involved with congestion because of opening bridges. In particular during the summer season this causes congestion during peak hours. As part of the 'Ground Planning and Environmental Survey' of highway 7 in Sneek analyses were carried out in terms of a specific policy alternative called "Watertown", beside the main alternatives to solve the problems of highway 7 in Sneek. In this alternative "Watertown" chances were created to develop Sneek optimal as watersport centre of the north of the Netherlands. The "Watertown" policy alternative lends itself to discussions on behalf of several items. (A)
