Abstract

For the purposes of countermeasure development and evaluation, estimates of crash risk on a per distance travelled basis provide valuable information. On road exposure surveys have been conducted in Melbourne. The survey methodology is outlined and the risks of casualty accident involvement, cross- classified by driver sex, licence experience, time of week and vehicle occupancy, are presented.
