Abstract

In traffic visual acuity is at least as important to detect objects in peripheral parts of the visual field. A considerable constriction of this field as well as a homonymous hemianopia cannot be allowed for a driver. Quadrant hemianopia can also be dangerous. Scotomas in the corresponding parts of the visual fields of both eyes also involve certain risks. Regulations concerning visual fields and the power of eyeglasses have to be discussed.
