This issue of Current Topics includes over 70 abstracts of reports, conference papers, books and journal articles which focus on the identification and application of the casualty costs and external costs of road traffic accidents. Subjects covered include accident cost valuation method, the costs and benefits of accident prevention measures and the establishment of standardised accident type costs which are used for project planning and evaluation. These items have been selected from the material added to the Transport Research Laboratory's Library Database between 2001 and 2006. Much of the relevant English language published literature from the UK, USA, Australia and Europe is included; some of the non-UK literature is included courtesy of the OECD International Transport Research Documentation (ITRD) database. Abstracts for the years 1997-2000 can be found in the previous issue of this title, Current Topics in Transport No. 101.1 (C 16601 S).
