Abstract

The paper attempts to describe the introduction of the methods and processes of investigation into accident black spots on New Zealand roads during 1984. Also the range of possible faults for which low cost measures are available as solutions to the problems found. The paper then relates the experiences gained so far in carrying out eight studies on sections of state highway and three in urban areas.
