The Traffic Safety Committee on Insurance Companies VALT, an organ in the organization of the Finnish Motor Insurers' Bureau, is responsible for the joint road safety work of Finnish insurance companies. VALTs' activities include various tasks for better road safety, such as initiatives, statements and comments, and road safety promotion. An important part of the work is research; in addition to the road accident investigation team operating described here, it involves support for scientific research, statistical reports based on accident data compiled by insurance companies, and special studies. This booklet discusses some of the findings and results of the investigation team work. The operation itself is also described, with an account to its development and improvements. This publication is the fourth revised edition.
