This report has given a preliminary description of the on-the-spot research being conducted by the Human Engineering Section into urban road accidents information has been collected from hospitals, the police, garages, and the road users involved. The results have been presented; they cover certain descriptive factors, some elements of accident causation, an analysis of the injuries and their origins and some estimates of the costs involved consequent to the accidents. Some of the limitations and applications of the study have been discussed together with possible directions of future research.
