Abstract
This paper outlines the road safety situation in Bangladesh. It is found that road fatalities are increasing steadily and the safety problem is very severe by international standards. Local initiatives to improve the conditions are very sparse and it is concluded that much greater effort, desirably with the support from international agencies, is needed in combatting the problem.
