Abstract

The previous issue of Road Accidents Great Britain included a brief account of the problems and priorities of initiating early road accident statistics (see IRRD 846540). This present article reviews some aspects of the difficulties experienced in gathering and analysing statistics both in peace and wartime and concludes with the introduction of the first STATS19 and the beginning of the annual series of Road Accidents Great Britain in 1951.
