Abstract

Following the line of previous work, accident and casualty rates for 1968 have been calculated for Great Britain, using traffic data obtained from the traffic census carried out at about 1300 sites in 1966, up-dated by applying trends at a number of permanent census sites. For urban and rural areas, the roles haven been calculated separately for different classes of the road user and vehicle, by different severities of injury or accident, and for different classes of road.
