Abstract

This publication presents data on road accidents with casualties which occurred in 2004. The data are intended to complement and expand on the monthly summaries of road accidents with casualties published regularly in the "Monthly Bulletin of Statistics” and in the “Transport Statistics Quarterly”, published by the Central Bureau of Statistics. The data in this publication are annual, countrywide presented in various cross-sections, by the vehicles, casualties and drivers involved in those accidents. The publication includes two appendices. The first presents data on road accidents with casualties which occurred in 2004 in Judea and Samaria (up to 1994 this appendix appeared annually in the “Transport Statistics Quarterly”). The second appendix appears here for the first time. This special appendix contains data on reports of road accidents with slightly injured casualties which were reported by the Israel Police (in the ‘General with Casualties’ files in 2004). This publication is one of two on road accidents with casualties for 2004. In the second publication (No. 1253) data are presented on accidents on non-urban roads, including the number of road accidents, the volume of traffic and the probability of an accident for each kilometre and in each intersection on selected non-urban roads. The data are based on processing which was conducted by the Central Bureau of Statistics, using Israel Police files on road accidents with casualties. Processing of the data was commissioned and financed by the National Road Safety Authority in the Ministry of Transport. Coordination of the data and its preparation for publication were performed by the Transportation and Communication Sector of the Central Bureau of Statistics. (Author/publisher)
