Abstract

This edition of the annual publication (first published in 1951) presents detailed statistics of road accidents in Great Britain and their resulting casualties. A calendar of events concerning road safety and traffic matters from 1903-2000 is presented (pp 136-139). Tables are provided showing statistics on vehicle population, accidents and accident rates classified (e.g. by road class, type of vehicle, time of day and severity of accident). Road Accidents Great Britain (RAGB) 2000 also includes four review articles: (1) Ross, R. - General review of personal injury road accidents in Great Britain in 2000, pp 7-19; (2) Review of progress towards the 2010 casualty reduction targets, pp 20-33; (3) Masurel, P. - Drinking and driving, pp 34-42; and (4) Gains, A. - The impact of speed cameras on road casualties. For the abstracts of these articles see C 21035 - C 21038 (ITRD E111480 - E111483).
