Abstract

This paper discusses the causes of pedestrian injuries and fatalities in traffic accidents during a ten-year period in Rijeka. Drivers caused 54% of traffic accidents due to exceeding speed limit 55% and due to overtaking 25%. Pedestrians caused 46% of traffic accidents, out of which 41% was due to disregard pedestrian crossings, 18% due to running out and 16% due to playing on a street.
