The ROVL (Regionaal Orgaan Verkeersveiligheid Limburg ) aims to reduce traffic accidents and fatalities to zero using traffic safety programs targeting the public at all ages (i.e., permanent traffic education). One of the traffic safety education programs targeting adolescents is Traffic Informers, a school-based program that aims to confront students with the possible effects of their behavior in traffic. In this program, students watch shocking videos of accidents after which they get to talk to an accident victim. The program is considered successful in that it is used by most secondary schools in Limburg. In line with their mission statement, the ROVL asked Maastricht University to evaluate the effects of the Traffic Informer program on the traffic behavior of adolescents. This dissertation is the result of this evaluation. (Author/publisher)
