Abstract

This edition of the annual publication (first published in 1951) presents detailed statistics of road casualties in Great Britain. Tables are provided showing statistics on vehicle population, accidents and accident rates classified (e.g. by road class, type of vehicle, time of day and severity of accident) for 1993-2003. Detailed tables for 2003 consider general matters, accidents, caualties and the drivers and vehicles involved. A table of international comparisons on road deaths and another table on passenger casualty rates by mode are provided. Road Casualties Great Britain 2003 also includes three review articles: a general review of progress towards the 2010 casualty reduction targets; drinking and driving; and contributory factors to accidents. For abstracts of these reviews see C 30193 - C 30195 (ITRD E122137-E122139).
