Abstract

This publication (first published in 1951) presents detailed statistics of road casualties in Great Britain. Tables are provided showing statistics on vehicle population, accidents and accident rates classified (e.g. by road class, type of vehicle, time of day and severity of accident) for 1995-2005. Detailed tables for 2005 consider general matters, accidents, casualties and the drivers and vehicles involved. A table of international comparisons on road deaths and another table on passenger casualty rates by mode are provided. Road Casualties Great Britain 2005 also includes three review articles: a general review of progress towards the 2010 casualty reduction targets which includes the average value of prevention per casualty including fatalities and per accident (Rashmeeta Singh and D. Marrott); drinking and driving (F. Dar); and changes to definitions and tables for 2005 as a result of the 2002-3 review of road accident statistics (D. Robinson and D. Wilson). (Author/publisher)
