Abstract

The present method of assessing the relative value of installing lighting on an until section of trunk or principal road depends on the expected saving in personal injury accidents. This method is regarded as one of "cure" rather than "prevention". The following alternative based on evaluation assessment schemes used in industry are briefly mentioned. The ranking method; The classification or grading method; The factor compression method and The point assessment method. The last one is considered the most applicable to road lighting.
