Abstract

The development of traffic information gives road authorities new means to fulfil their missions, to ensure traffic flow and safety. In order to gather data, to manage action plans and to give coherent information to the drivers, relationship between all partners concerned with traffic management is necessary. In Wallonia, the Road Administration has launched the WHIST project in order to organize traffic management from one strategic point, the PEREX centre. Partnerships for exchange of data and information are currently discussed with the motorway police and neighbouring regions. For the diffusion of information, a partnership has already been concluded with the public broadcaster. This represents a deciding step for the integration of traffic information to traffic management. (A)
