Abstract
This report provides background information for the session organised by the Committee on Road Management. It provides a brief introduction to a number of supporting themes, some of which are presented more fully at other sessions, but are included in this report since they contribute to the overall conclusions of the committee, which are presented at the end of the report. Topics discussed include training for road maintenance, customer-defined levels of service, planning/budgeting, asset management, preventative maintenance, and quality assurance.
