Abstract

Cold plastic road markings have become increasingly important in Western Germany in recent years. Permitted materials are tested by the Federal German Roads Institute for adhesion, visibility by night and day, paint tolerance and durability but the test processes could be improved if certain requirements were initially set down. A new system of awarding contracts to road-marking agencies, to be tried out in 1970, is described.
